BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus II 4K UHD Cloud Dash Cam (NA Version)
BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus II: 4K Front, Full HD Rear, Built-in LTE
We'd choose the BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus II when you want 4K front recording and a built-in modem for remote Cloud access. It records 4K at 30FPS ahead and Full HD 1080p at 30FPS behind, with Sony STARVIS 2 in front and Sony STARVIS at the rear. Cellular access needs a compatible activated SIM and data plan, but no external LTE module.
This kit includes both cameras, the rear connection cable, a hardwiring cable, USB-C power cable and vehicle adapter, plus a 64GB microSD card. Built-in GPS and dual-band Wi-Fi support everyday recording and nearby app access. This new dash cam has a two-year warranty.
4K detail in front, Full HD behind
The front camera combines a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor with 3840 × 2160 recording at 30FPS and a 146° diagonal view. The rear records 1920 × 1080 at 30FPS with a Sony STARVIS sensor and 131° diagonal view. The rear is not a second 4K camera.
HDR is supported through the Series II firmware line. Keep the camera, app and viewer updated, then check the HDR and video-quality settings. HDR helps balance bright and dark areas; lighting, motion and camera angle still affect readable detail.
If a higher-resolution rear view matters more than a built-in cellular modem, compare the BlackVue ELITE 9 with a 2K rear camera. The ELITE 9 needs a separate internet source for Cloud access.

Built-in LTE, with a separate data plan
The front unit has a nano-SIM slot and LTE modem, so it does not need a CM100G module. This North American version supports LTE bands B2, B4 and B12.
Check the SIM, plan, IMEI activation and APN requirements with the carrier before buying service. Coverage and device acceptance matter. A SIM that works in a phone may not work in this camera. Bell is not on BlackVue's supported Canadian carrier list for this version.
With camera power, an active internet connection, a BlackVue account and the appropriate settings, Cloud functions can include remote live view, event notifications and uploads. Cloud-plan limits and mobile-data charges are separate. A suitable Wi-Fi hotspot can also provide internet; local recording does not require a subscription.

Record parked activity with the right power source
The included hardwiring cable supplies constant power and an ignition signal so the camera can switch to parking recording when the vehicle turns off. BlackVue offers motion detection and time-lapse modes, with buffered impact events that include ten seconds before the detected impact.
The voltage cutoff and timer limit how long the camera draws from the vehicle battery. Set them for your vehicle and battery condition. Recording duration also depends on temperature, accessories and power use; remote notifications stop if the camera loses power or internet.
For a separate parking-power source, compare the BlackVue B-130A battery pack and its compatible output. The supplied USB-C power cable and vehicle adapter provide a driving setup; the installation guide specifies hardwiring or a battery pack for recording with the engine off.

Use the app nearby or check the camera remotely
Dual-band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi connects the camera to your phone for live view, settings and file downloads. Bluetooth supports pairing. Built-in GPS records speed and location when enabled, so you can review the route with your footage.
Direct Wi-Fi access works nearby without a cellular plan. Cloud access is the remote option and requires an internet connection at the camera. Set up the camera in the current BlackVue app and test both connections before relying on remote alerts. The app image is illustrative; screens may change with updates.
Download important clips before removing or formatting the card. If you need help with mounting, cable routing or a battery installation, use our dash cam installation guides.

Choose recording quality and keep important files
A 64GB card is supplied, and current Series II firmware supports BlackVue microSD cards up to 1TB. The front camera can record at up to 60Mbps in H.265 mode. Higher quality and two camera streams consume more storage, so there is no fixed promise of weeks of recordings.
H.265 offers efficient compression but needs compatible playback software; H.264 is the alternative. Both save MP4 files. The camera records in a loop and can protect up to 50 event files, subject to its settings. Formatting still deletes protected files, so keep a separate copy of anything important.
The touch sensor can trigger a manual event depending on its setting. The supercapacitor supports shutdown; it does not power parking recording. BlackVue specifies −20°C to 70°C operation and a thermal cutoff around 70°C. Choose a compatible replacement from our dash cam memory-card options and follow the manufacturer’s formatting instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are both cameras 4K?
No. The front camera records 4K UHD at 30FPS with Sony STARVIS 2. The rear records Full HD 1080p at 30FPS with Sony STARVIS.
Do I need an external LTE module?
No. This model has a built-in LTE modem and nano-SIM slot. You still need a compatible activated SIM and mobile data plan for cellular access.
Which carriers does the North American version support?
BlackVue lists T-Mobile in the United States and Rogers or Telus in Canada, using LTE bands B2, B4 and B12. AT&T and Verizon are not supported, and Bell is not on the manufacturer’s list. Confirm device activation, coverage and the plan with your carrier.
Is the SIM card or data plan included?
No. The camera hardware is included; the nano-SIM and mobile data service are separate. BlackVue Cloud subscriptions and mobile-data plans are also separate services.
Can it record without cellular service?
Yes. It records to the microSD card and supports nearby app access over Wi-Fi without a mobile data plan. A compatible Wi-Fi hotspot can provide internet for Cloud features if you are not using LTE.
What is required to view my parked vehicle remotely?
The camera needs ongoing power, a working internet connection, a BlackVue account and the correct Cloud settings. Features and limits depend on the Cloud plan. Remote access is unavailable while the camera is off or offline.
Does it include the hardwiring cable?
Yes. The kit includes a hardwiring power cable, USB-C power cable and vehicle adapter. The installation guide specifies hardwiring or a compatible battery pack for parking recording with the engine off.
Does parking mode save footage before an impact?
BlackVue specifies a ten-second pre-event buffer for detected impacts. That buffer requires the camera to be powered and recording; it cannot recover footage from a period when the camera was off.
How long does parking recording last?
There is no fixed duration. Available power, battery condition, temperature, connected accessories, recording mode and cutoff settings affect runtime. Configure voltage protection and the parking timer, or use a compatible separate battery pack.
What changed with Series II?
BlackVue’s Series II firmware updates added HDR, 1TB card support and faster startup. The earlier DR970X LTE Plus already used a Sony STARVIS 2 front sensor, and the original Plus and Series II models share that firmware line.
Does this model support HDR?
Yes, through the Series II firmware line. Keep the firmware, app and viewer current and check the HDR settings. Do not confuse the rear Full HD STARVIS camera with a second STARVIS 2 camera.
What size memory card comes with it?
A 64GB microSD card is included in this package. Current Series II firmware supports BlackVue cards up to 1TB. Follow the manufacturer’s card and formatting instructions when upgrading.
Why choose H.265 instead of H.264?
H.265 is an efficient compression option and enables the front camera’s maximum 60Mbps setting. H.264 offers another playback-compatibility option. Your chosen quality and card capacity determine how much footage fits.
Can protected event files still be lost?
Yes. Protection limits normal overwrite according to the selected settings, but formatting deletes all recordings, including protected events. Export important files to a separate device.
Will the camera keep running in extreme heat?
It can shut down. BlackVue specifies an operating range ending at 70°C and an approximate 70°C thermal cutoff. The camera’s supercapacitor supports shutdown, not long-term parking power.
What warranty is included?
This new BlackVue dash cam includes a two-year warranty. Refurbished dash cams have the separate 12-month warranty policy.
